Linear polarizers are glass-bonded dichroic optical components. They convert incoming light into polarized light by absorbing one orthogonal polarization component. Made of laminated polarizing film, protective layers and adhesive, they come in black/color types for different optical transmission needs.
In photography, they remove surface glare from water and glass, enhance color contrast, and cut exposure by 1–2 stops to replace ND2/ND4 filters.
They are widely used for optical experiments, industrial inspection, medical devices, polarizing microscopes, laser cavities, LCD screens and anti-glare lenses.
